Cowbridge Storage Yard – Cowbridge Compost
Client | Cowbridge Compost Ltd |
Project | Construction of a new composting station within an existing agricultural Building |
Completion Date | 02/2008 |
Contract Period | 16 Weeks |
Value | £125k |
The main project brief was to convert an existing agricultural building into a green waste composting station. The main works within the project involved construction of 9 reinforced concrete bunkers with walls at 3.5m high, impact protection steel on the front faces, integral falls linked to a closed loop drainage system, external concrete approach roads, dual function storm and closed loop drainage systems, structural steelwork and new door installations at both gable ends. The existing building also received new cladding, flashing, roof lights and bund wall sealing details to comply with environmental requirements.
Due to the new areas of investment for the farm estate, DLC felt that an ‘Open Book’ tender approach was most favourable at tender stage to convince Cowbridge Compost Ltd of the company’s intentions towards Safety and Quality. These led to further negotiations between the two parties to value and engineer the project, allowing DLC to secure the contract.
The project was a great success for both the Client in terms of their new business direction and ourselves in terms with our first Partnering type contract.
